Seniors Are Expendable

Tevya Brings the Bagels

Good Morning, Breakfastpoppers. Today is Tuesday, July 5, 2016. Our dear friend, Wasp Tevya, is at the breakfast table this morning. He arrived early this morning with tons of warm bagels. I will supply the toppings and Irish coffees. Tevya is very disturbed by the changes being made to the Medicare program. Seniors are definitely getting a raw deal. Please join us at the table to get the latest bad news cooked up by the Obama administration. We hope to see you soon.

Seniors are Going to Hurt

Thank you all for joining me this morning. President Obama is at it again. He claims to be "reforming" Medicare, but in truth he is pulling it apart. All of this unwanted and unwelcome "change" will adversely affect seniors and their quality of life. It is going to be far more difficult to get joint replacements, and that is just the tip of the iceberg. Obama has presented seniors with 962 pages of regulations that dictate how doctors must treat patients. Doctors are being forced to spend more time on the computer completing mandatory forms than caring for their patients. The rules are cumbersome and convoluted, and providers are getting fed up with the whole fiasco.

Source

Trouble

Caring for Medicare patients doesn't pay the bills. Doctor reimbursements are marginal, at best. Annual fee increases are capped at one percent. It is not at all surprising that doctors prefer to avoid Medicare patients like the plague. We can thank President Obama for that. The news gets worse. Doctors who administer chemotherapy are getting their fees cut. Patients, at the urging of the federal government, are being treated with the cheapest drug rather than the most effective drug. Things only get worse when it comes to hip and knee replacements. Obama's new rules punish hospitals for performing this type of surgery if their patients are likely to need rehab following surgery. The worst cases will go untreated now that hospitals can expect to be penalized.

Source

Take a Pill

Seniors can expect to be given prescriptions for painkillers, as an alternative to more expensive treatments, including surgery. It is no wonder that seniors are now turning to heroin and cocaine to deal with their worsening medical problems. Prescriptions are too expensive and more involved treatment is no longer readily available. Obamacare helped gut Medicare. The law added bonuses for hospitals that spend the least amount of money per senior. In a perfect world, hospitals would ignore the bonuses and care for patients. In the real world, hospitals are turning away from caring for seniors in order to grab some of the bonuses being dangled as bait. The hospitals that are hungry for the money are killing off seniors by holding back expensive treatments. Deaths are up from pneumonia, heart failure and heart attacks. A report published in Health Affairs states 231 hospitals that were rewarded with Medicare bonuses offered inferior care. Patients die in these hospitals. Seniors who are treated elsewhere fair much better. President Obama claims that these new rules insure better care. Perhaps he should get out a bit more and ask the doctors and patients how they feel about his new regulations.

A Bitter Pill to Swallow

Obamacare changes how doctors are paid. Physicians can keep more money for themselves if they order less tests for seniors. More money comes their way if fewer specialists are called in, and even more money flows into their hands if Grandma and Grandpa skip rehab and go directly home. The future looks even grimmer if Clinton is elected. She has proposed opening the Medicare program to people in their 50's. This not so brilliant idea will pit seniors against younger patients, which is exactly what happens in Britain and Canada. Older people are thrown aside in favor of younger patients. Donald Trump has promised to undo Medicare cuts. Let's hope he wins. If he does pull it off, he will have to deal with the likes of Paul Ryan who wants to replace Obamacare with a plan to offer subsidies to consumers to buy health plans. He'll pay for this fiasco by continuing the Medicare cuts. The bottom line for me is quite simple and very scary. Seniors cost too much money and are a big pain in the rear. We can thank the Obama administration, his fellow Democrats and some Republicans for this continuing nightmare. Perhaps the government should bring ailing seniors to the Arctic and float them out to sea. How much could that cost?

Levy's Song

Dear God, you made so many politicians,

I suppose it's not a sin to be a politician

But it's no great honor either...

The problem with Obumma's cuts to Medicare is that he is now screwing a segment of the population instead of the entire population. Yet, the morons still support him just as the morons want Hillary the Liar to be president. We Americans are doomed.

It's the implementation of Zeke Emanuel's "Real Life Plan" which places minimal value on children and seniors. Here come the Death Panels.

I stopped relying on the government a long time ago, and I'm making plans to protect myself until I die. My faith in this, or any government in the near future, is zip.

What's happening, Pop? You are I are agreeing an awful lot. LOL

Excellent bug report on the Medicare buggers in the government. I have written about these subjects and find that most people just don't care.

The government employees are being treated like the masters instead of public servants at the expense of the Taxpayers.

Yes, they have to pay into SS and Medicare, but these are just bonuses to their Platinum benefits. Check out FERS, and FEHS, and all their vacation, personal time off, and holidays. Top that off with Job Security.

MY point is that Congress, the President and government workers need to either bring up the private sector to their level, or bring down their level to the current level in the private sector.

People keep on talking about diversity, and equality, and the unequal distribution of wealth, but I think that I am one of few that talks about inequality between the public and private sector. The major difference is that the public sector has the unlimited wealth of the taxpayers, while the private sector needs to work in the bounds of being a viable company as opposed to being bankrupt.

The FERS, Federal Employee Retirement System is not managed by the government as is SS. So why aren't SS and Medicare managed and controlled by a neutral source?

What is the value of Obamacare, if Medicare can be used against the people instead of helping the people. Why should Medicare recipients have to pay for additional medical? And for many there sole source of income is SS benefits?

I hope that you get better responses, and more concerns about this subject than I have had with it in the past. Pop, the people are as bad as the system. They reject putting any energy into making the system better.

Obamacare is a TAX, not a health reform, more like a health Deform.

I'll be at the INN, coffee and donuts and a group rate on spandex.

      Good Morning Pop and Tevya.

I received a letter from my doctor I have had for 20 years that she will no longer be accepting Medicare patients. I called and talked with her and she explained that with the high cost of running a medical office she can no longer afford to work for free.

Three of her employees are totally dedicated to insurance claims, and they can barely keep up. Then it takes a long time to actually receive the small amount of money Medicare is willing to pay the doctors.

I still believe Obamacare was designed to fail to get us closer to the Single-Payer system the left would prefer. They first had to destroy our existing system and used Obamacare as a stepping stone. The quality of care has been sliding down since Obamacare came into being. The plan to destroy our existing system was a total success.

Pop.....Much too ironic that the day after we happily celebrated "Independence Day." we discover yet again that our rights, freedoms & privileges are going further & further into the shitter.....thanks to the Grand shit-head himself BHO......

Oh Brad, amigo mio, I "care" very much about the Medicare debacle....got any ideas? I'm there buddy, just send me a memo! Can we include the latest Headlines about the Queen of No-Consequences? I have a feeling there are an awful lot of homicidal maniacs who will follow their evil plans now, since we're to believe that all we need to insist is that "We didn't INTEND to kill him/her."

In fact, I was just thinking of going to the bank to make a withdrawal, if I bring a weapon and the withdrawal is enormous, I'll just proclaim that it wasn't MY INTENTION. I can handle being referred to as "EXTREMELY RECKLESS." Hell, been called a lot worse than that.

Have a great day my fellow Americans and take good care of your hips and knees!!! Love, An elder, slowly coming to the END.......So Long!

      Dear taxlarry,

I believe you are correct. Comey's disgusting whitewash of Clinton tells me that the fix was in from the beginning and all this garbage was BS. Apparently, our reps in Congress think the cuts to Medicare are peachy. Anyway you slice it, our government is totally corrupt. See you at the Inn.

      Dear brad,

People will certainly start caring when they are denied care, and trust me, it is happening now and will only escalate. Government workers, whether they be Congress members or file clerks, have to receive the same benefits as the general public. That includes the president, his family, the dog and anyone else in his entourage. Until that happens, we the people, will always get the short end of the stick. See you later.

      Dear Mike,

Your sad experience will be the same experience we will all come to know. The government caps increases in payments to 1 percent. The same can't be said about rent, equipment and wages. It's a losing deal all the way around. I suspect you are right about Obamacare. It is a flop and it is expensive. It is just an elaborate show to move us in the direction of a single payor system. I am disgusted. See you at the Inn.

Mark this one down in the History books: First time EVER (& probably the last) Hillary Clinton wasn't LYING, when she gave her press conference reply to the question about the "Investigation" repercussions, "I'm not at all concerned about that and I will not discuss it. That's NOT gonna happen!"....Congrats to Madam Liar Extraordinaire....she damned sure knew what she was talking about with that response!

      Dear fp,

I am shocked and disgusted with this unbelievable miscarriage of justice. If I ever questioned the extent of corruption in government before, my mind is now coming to terms with the fact that we have no moral compass and people like the Clintons can get away with anything. The sheer audacity of these people. The complete failure of the FBI to stand up to the Clintons. The arrogance of Loretta Lynch, a pal of Clinton's, not seriously recusing herself from this case. I would love to see them all go to jail and share a cell. They can take Obama with them.

The trouble with government help is that it is a bureaucracy.

The law usually isn't bad until after the bureaucrats have chewed on it.

      Good morning, PoP and Tevya...

Someone has said that a government can best be judged by how they provide for the most vulnerable of their citizens...Judgement Day is here and our government does not meet the test of caring for its senior citizens, the most vulnerable of us...The government has opted for a business model that denies medical care based on age...What's next..? Forced termination of life when one reaches 65..? The exceptions being those that have the money and power to survive this progressive holocaust...

I'm buying Harvey Wallbangers for everyone over 65...lets celebrate life while we still can...

      Good points.

As people get older they incur more medical costs, so congress raised the medical tax deduction threshold from 7.5% to 10%, when they should have reduced it to 2%. Making money off of sick old people is scary.

Our priorities in this country are all messed up. By the way, if Trump is proving you can buy the presidency (although he has spent less than Hillary), Hilary is proving you can lie your way into the WH. In any case, seniors are not all that important anymore. More and more doctors don't want to see them anymore. Thanks for commenting.

So why moan about what Obama has done. The GOP now runs the USA and the Dems are powerless to stop anything the Republicans do, including Medicare and Obamacare reform(or eliminating Obamacare as they promise to do. The ball is in their court and Millions of American voters are waiting to see just how the Republicans change their lives

      Good Morning GA Loren,

For the first time, in a long time, we have a way to make things better. If the Dems would grow up and stop whining they may just find out that Trump's not all that bad. As for the plight of Seniors, well that is a concern and it must be addressed.
