Jill Holtzman Vogel Is Wrong for Virginia
In my previous Hubs, you may have noticed that I have called politicians out on their shortcomings and transgressions throughout the United States of America. Having lived in New York for four years and in California for seven years, I am someone to keep my eyes and ears open to any news or information I can gather regarding a political candidate who is either corrupt or is a bad choice for office altogether. I am not here to run a smear campaign against any political candidate. However, I do wholeheartedly believe that the public does have the right to be fully informed about a political candidate before casting their vote in an election. One particular political candidate who has recently caught my attention in both the news and the media is Virginia State Senator Jill Holtzman Vogel. She is currently running against Justin Fairfax for lieutenant governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia. After having researched her background extensively, I have developed numerous concerns about her that I strongly feel that I should share with the voters of her state before they decide whom they wish to elect as their next lieutenant governor. I can candidly say that Ms. Vogel is definitely not someone that Virginians will want to elect as the next lieutenant governor of their state.
Herein I am not attempting to favor any particular political party. I have come across Ms. Vogel’s kind in both the Democratic Party and the Republican Party and even in the independent political parties. However, I do not wish for anyone in the Commonwealth of Virginia to cast their vote for her blindly this November, because she will bring nothing but problems to her state. Even if you are reading this Hub and you do not live or vote in the Commonwealth of Virginia, I still believe that you will find its contents to be very interesting. It is also important that you read its contents, because there always remains a chance that Ms. Vogel may even someday run for president of the United States of America. Even if you’re not an American like me, I can be rest assured that you will still be interested in what I have to say about Ms. Vogel. Herein I outline all of the reasons why anyone who is registered to vote in the Commonwealth of Virginia should not elect Ms. Vogel as the next lieutenant governor of that state.
Virginia State Senator Jill Holtzman Vogel
B. Ms. Vogel Cannot Relate To The Average Individual
Ms. Vogel is the daughter of corporate mogul William B. Holtzman, who owns the Holtzman Oil Corporation in the Commonwealth of Virginia. This man is wealthy; and he started this corporation of his in 1972, which was only two years after his daughter, Jill Holtzman Vogel, was born. Therefore, it immediately becomes clear to anyone reading my Hub about Ms. Vogel’s background in this regard that she grew up in the lap of luxury, and, therefore, she could never understand the struggles and difficulties of the average individual. In that sense, she is more likely than not to be insensitive and even apathetic to the needs of her constituents.
Here is a woman who attended the best schools and had opportunities flying at her from every direction from the time that she was a newborn to the time she went into politics. If you are a Virginian and you are struggling financially, Ms. Vogel is not going to understand your frustrations or your challenges in life. And why would she even feel obligated to do so? She has had everything given to her on a silver platter throughout her life. I am not saying that all rich people are this way. However, she is; and as you read further on herein, you will realize why I feel that way about her.
C. Ms. Vogel Has No Sense Of Loyalty To The Very People Who Trust Her
When President Donald J. Trump was running for office back in 2016, Ms. Vogel pretended to support his campaign as described in an online article by LoudounNow. However, she also befriended and even politically collaborated with Jeanne Smoot of the Tahirih Justice Center, which is an organization that has done nothing to hide the fact that they are sharply opposed to President Trump in all respects as revealed in an article that they published on their website. In other words, the people running the Tahirih Justice Center are President Trump's adversaries, and Ms. Vogel is their political ally in the form of her friendship and even collaboration with Ms. Smoot on legislative matters.
Ms. Vogel has proclaimed herself to be a champion of the rights of women as well as feminists who are clearly pro-choice on the abortion issue. However, recently Ms. Vogel’s opponent, Justin Fairfax, has brought the fact to light once again after five years that Ms. Vogel pushed through a bill that required women in the Commonwealth of Virginia to obtain a vaginal ultrasound before going through an abortion. Now, I have never been crazy about abortion. I do believe that life begins at conception, although I realize that there are going to be people who will disagree with me on this issue. However, here is the problem that I have with Ms. Vogel’s actions concerning this bill that was eventually signed into law. She misrepresented herself to feminists as a die-hard advocate of women’s rights, including the right to choose, so to speak, just so that she could get votes, and then she turned on these same people later on like a betraying angel. Her actions in this respect are virtually identical to those of Kathleen Sebelius back when she was running for office in Kansas in the previous decade. That is, Kathleen Sebelius had made false promises to anti-abortionists that she would stick to her religious convictions as a Catholic and oppose all abortions in her state jurisdiction. However, after she got the votes of these anti-abortionists to get herself elected into office, she threw them all under the bus, figuratively speaking. I do not see how Ms. Vogel’s actions are any different than those of Ms. Sebelius. In other words, Ms. Vogel just uses people to rack up votes whenever she is running for office.
The Recent Fierce Debate Between Jill Holtzman Vogel And Justin Fairfax For Virginia Lieutenant Governor
D. Ms. Vogel Plays Dirty Against Her Opponents In Elections
Back in the spring of this year when Ms. Vogel was running for nomination as the Republican candidate for lieutenant governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, which was decided upon in the recent June primary in that state, information came out to the public that Ms. Vogel had engaged in an abusive character assassination plot against her opponent, Bryce E. Reeves, in an effort to cause him to lose that same primary. In this plot, she attempted to mislead the voters in her state to believe that Mr. Reeves was somehow carrying on a sordid lifestyle.
Ms. Vogel has denied any allegations that she ever schemed to sabotage Mr. Reeves’s campaign in this regard. However, she has evaded investigators’ efforts to uncover evidence that she did actually orchestrate a plot to mislead the public at large into believing that Mr. Reeves was a promiscuous adulterer of some kind. Whenever anyone sees any campaign advertisements that Mr. Reeves has published on YouTube, it becomes very clear that he is a man of integrity and that he is not someone who would engage in questionable activities.
Virginia State Senator Bryce E. Reeves Is A Decent, Law-Abiding Citizen
This incident involving Mr. Reeves would not constitute the first and only time that Ms. Vogel has ever taken part in any form of corruption that has brought harm to others. Her transgressions in this regard have even crossed over state lines. Her corrupt activities date as far back as an entire decade.
E. Ms. Vogel Has Engaged In Hate-Related Activities
Shortly before she took office as a Virginia state senator in Richmond, it came out in the news on the Internet that Ms. Vogel had been involved in hate-related activities against certain minorities. Now, I realize that everyone, including politicians, are entitled to their opinions on issues. However, if Ms. Vogel is running for an office in which she will be representing everybody in her state jurisdiction, then the fact alone that she has engaged in hate-related activities demonstrates that she is not suitable for such an office.
If Ms. Vogel were to be elected as the next lieutenant governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, it would become her obligation to serve everyone living in her state jurisdiction. If she is bigoted or prejudiced against any certain group of people, especially ones who pay taxes in her state, then she would be falling short of her duties to the residents of her state jurisdiction.
F. Ms. Vogel Sponsors And Authors Legislation That Is Detrimental To The Rights Of Individuals
Back in 2016, Ms. Vogel introduced a bill to the Virginia State Senate in Richmond that would ban all underage marriage in her state jurisdiction. She referred to it as a ban on child marriage. However, this bill also outlawed voluntary teenage marriage as well. That is, this bill, once signed into law, prohibited anyone less than 18 years of age from getting married in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Later on, it was amended with a provision that also allowed legally emancipated 16- and 17-year-olds to get married in the Commonwealth of Virginia. She authored this bill and pushed it through her state legislature for Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe to sign into law, without considering the adverse impact and the consequences that it would have on the residents of her state once it was to become a law. An online article titled “The Great American Controversy Over Underage Marriage” describes what the adverse impact and the consequences were of this bill once it became a law in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Ms. Vogel did not stop just at pushing this same marriage bill through the Virginia state legislature, but she also took her busybody crusade one step further. She included a punitive provision in this same bill that would allow for the Commonwealth of Virginia to prosecute and sentence anyone up to six months in jail or a fine up to $500.00 if that person were to take a minor out of state to marry that minor in an effort to get around this same law. This same punitive provision appears to violate the legal principle of comity between state jurisdictions here in our nation. It also would have punished any parent of the Commonwealth of Virginia who took part in transporting a minor across state lines to get married regardless of whether that same minor was their own son or daughter or someone else's son or daughter. Luckily, the Virginia state legislature ultimately did not allow for Ms. Vogel to keep this same punitive provision in her marriage bill.
Ms. Vogel pulled every shady tactic in the book to get this same marriage bill passed and signed into law. She even went so far as teaming up with the Tahirih Justice Center to produce false statistics that alleged that 12-year-olds were getting married in the Commonwealth of Virginia on a regular basis. However, a news group called her and the Tahirih Justice Center out on their inaccuracies in this same regard, and they did so in an online article. My position on this matter is that if Ms. Vogel cannot be trusted to tell the truth about something like this, then she cannot be trusted to serve as the next lieutenant governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Another point that I would like to stress about this new law that Ms. Vogel got passed in the Commonwealth of Virginia that banned underage marriage for the most part in that state is that at no point in time in any of her speeches did she ever make mention of the much bigger issue of deadbeat teenage fathers in her state, many who are the faces of justifiable patricide in that their kids usually grow up hating them. Throughout her busybody crusade to get this marriage bill signed into law, she made it clear to the public at large in her state that she was mainly pushing it through her state legislature to put a stop to Loretta-Lynn-style marriages. Before Ms. Vogel got Governor McAuliffe to sign this bill of hers into law, I would not doubt that there were likely more 15- and 16-year-old deadbeat teenage fathers getting their 13- and 14-year-old girlfriends pregnant and then bailing on them than there were men in their twenties and thirties marrying young girls who were still in high school or middle school in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Ms. Vogel has clearly always had an agenda that does not address the big issues that concern the people of the Commonwealth of Virginia. She spends too much time on her busybody crusades as this one that she pursued to ban all underage marriage in her state.
Now that she got this intrusive and harmful ban on “child marriage” passed in the Commonwealth of Virginia, many of you like me may be asking this one same pressing question concerning her future intentions. What bright idea is she going to come up with next? Is she going to author and push for a law that would force girls under 18 years of age in her state to give their babies up for adoption under the premise that these young ladies are emotionally too immature to handle child rearing? Oh, wait a minute. Perhaps it would not be enough for Ms. Vogel to push such an outrageous bill through her state legislature for the Governor of Virginia to sign into law. She might just take it a step further and get a law passed also to prevent maternal grandparents from adopting their underage daughter’s child under the premise that they are too irresponsible and unfit to raise a grandchild inasmuch as they allowed their 13- or 14-year-old daughter to become pregnant. This sort of Puritanical nonsense is what Ms. Vogel is going to impose upon the people of the Commonwealth of Virginia if she is elected as their next lieutenant governor. She has done enough damage in her capacity as a Virginia state senator in Richmond. Why give this dragon lady more power and authority so that she can just turn around and abuse it at the expense and detriment of everyday civilians in her state jurisdiction?
G. My Conclusion Regarding Ms. Vogel
Ms. Vogel is wrong for the Commonwealth of Virginia. Her intrusive and even harmful actions as a state senator seriously place her ability to lead her state as a lieutenant governor into question. She has demonstrated to be bigoted against certain groups of people in her state jurisdiction, and she is obviously intolerant to diversity. She does not have anybody’s best interests at heart except for her own. She would make a poor choice as the next lieutenant governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
The people of the Commonwealth of Virginia should not vote to elect Jill Holtzman Vogel as the next lieutenant governor of their state this November. Even if you are a Republican and you are registered to vote in the Commonwealth of Virginia, do not vote for Ms. Vogel. She does not care about your beliefs or needs as a resident of her state. I am not saying that you have to vote for any of her opponents or vote at all. However, if she gets elected into office as the next lieutenant governor of your state, life will be over for everyone there as they know it. Therefore, make the right choice this November. Ms. Vogel is not the right choice.
