Tevya is in the Kitchen

Good Morning, Breakfastpoppers. Today is Sunday, April 8, 2018. Our wise friend, Wasp Tevya, is at the stove preparing Banana Pancakes and pondering the political tensions that are tearing family and friends apart. Tevya has asked for the pleasure of your company this morning. Please come to the table as quickly as you can, and leave your firearms at the door!

It's a Toy Gun

Thanks so much for coming to the breakfast table this morning. The picture above depicts a toy gun. Whether it's a toy or a real weapon, a discussion of either may lead to trouble. It is practically impossible to discuss anything in today's world that doesn't lead to problems. Take the toy gun. Those on the left would say that the toy gun is a symbol of everything wrong in our society. Guns kill people. Toy guns make a joke out of killing people. Those on the right might say relax, it's only a toy. Teach your children the difference between a toy and a real gun, and you are good to go. Keeping guns out of the hands of responsible citizens serves only to give the criminals a huge advantage.

The same argument can be had about everything. Whether it be arming citizens, requiring voter ID, securing our borders, sanctuary cities, identity politics, racial tensions, sexual preferences or the food pyramid, mostly everyone is ready for a fight. Was it always this way?

We Are Broken

When friends and family get together these days there are so many topics that could ignite an argument, that it feels like we are all walking on eggshells. These are incredible times in so many ways. A man was elected to the presidency who is not a Washington hack. He sees a problem and says, let's fix it. That alone is worthy of a rousing discussion. But wait, there is a catch. Some of our loved ones are unaware of what President Trump has actually accomplished. They are also woefully unaware of what he hopes to get done. Their sources of information are heavily biased. They are slowly and steadily being brainwashed by the media. The media is just an extension of the Democratic Party, so there is no way they are going to give President Trump a break. At the end of the day, the media wins, the loyal watcher loses, and the nation suffers. Without access or a desire to get the whole story, the truth will never see the light of day. POP and I watch all the stations. We like to know what is going on from all corners, and we will go that extra mile to sort out the truth. That's our "thing", but it isn't everybody's cup of tea. Most people don't have the time or desire to delve too deeply into the workings of the government. They have time for soundbites and headlines. Depending on the MSM for the truth is like asking Billy the Kid to guard your bank account. It doesn't work. If most people don't have the time to dig deeper, why do they still have an appetite for fighting?

Teaching Bias and Division

Years ago POP worked for the Democratic Party. Her in-laws thought she was a Communist. She thought that was funny. Now POP has relatives who think she's a gun toting fascist because she wants to secure our borders, preserve the 2nd Amendment, require voter ID. and rid ourselves of political correctness. She wouldn't mind discussing any of these issues. POP is always up for a healthy debate. The problem now is that debating is out and name-calling is in. It is virtually impossible to have a difference of opinion about anything and keep relationships intact. Evidence of this is everywhere from the dinner table to Hubpages. Years ago, liberals were willing to sit down and talk because free speech and open dialogue were a cornerstone of their belief system. Things are different now, and we can thank the left leaning teachers, the left leaning media and the left leaning political figures for destroying the concept of free speech and tolerance. When POP identified as a liberal, she believed in free speech, free exchange of ideas and a willingness to explore just about anything. Slamming the door in the face of differing opinions was not acceptable. Today it is the norm.

Tears of Loss

It is 2018, and this should be a time for discovery and progress. Instead, there is an ugliness abounding that threatens to tear us apart from the dinner table to the halls of Congress. We have lost our civility. We have lost the ability to listen. We have lost the willingness to compromise. We have lost the ability to learn. We have lost respect for the truth. We protect liars. We let the guilty walk free and we punish the common man. We name call and ridicule those who disagree with us. We separate ourselves from our loved ones, our friends, our co-workers, and in the end we separate ourselves from our humanity. I mourn the loss of common sense and decency. If we are to return to what we once were, we are going to need a miracle. Do you believe in miracles?

Tevya's Song

Dear God, you have made so many liberals

It never was a sin to be a liberal

But these days, it is no great honor either.....

Mr. Happy, No we do not all agree with "making the gun laws tighter", because it doesn't work, it never works. The only ones that obey the laws; new, old, tighter, stricter, volumes...are law-abiding citizens. Therefore, the law-abiding citizen, is the only one affected by them. Bad guys don't care! I'd prefer my hands not be tied, when face to face with a bad guy that doesn't care. The only ones entering these gun-free zones throughout, are evil individuals with evil intentions. They do not recognize gun-free zones, they do not heed these warnings.

The left never stops, kind of like them trying to end Trump, they are never satisfied, it is never enough!

They'll not be satisfied until all guns are taken out of our hands. Which will be the law-abiding citizen's only, the bad guys will not comply, they'll celebrate!

See that's a difference between liberals and ...well, let's say normal people with common sense. They are easily duped because they only believe what they want to hear. Anything that disagrees with what they want to believe has to be ignored even if it can't be refuted.

Crickets! Lol lots of them around hibpages when a liberal can't invent a come back.

It's always hard for a liberal to come back when the facts prove them wrong, but what is revealing of their intellectual dishonesty is that they choose to disappear from the conversation instead of admitting they could be mistaken and using the opportunity to learn and grow. Invariably they will resurface in another discussion espousing the same debunked opinions and never conceding they are wrong even though they have to know it. Their ego is more important to them than the truth.

Mr. Happy, for starters, the left here in the States, has labeled our President and ALL that voted for him and/or support him because he is our President, "mentally unstable."

You are a hunter, just imagine a group of people specifically targeting you, because they do not like that you hunt. They target you, insult you, challenge your character and your mental state. They seek to wear you down, as they seem to live for, taking something that you value...away from you.

How would that make you 'feel'?

That is what is currently happening here in the U.S. The left has lost it, the media has lost it. Those of us, on the other side, are working to salvage, the freedoms that we have enjoyed here, since our inception!

As glowingly as your review of socialism is, ours is tenfold for freedom, liberty, self sufficiency and independence....

      Good Morning Mr. Happy,

Your name is a misnomer, because you don't seem to be too happy with me or President Trump. No one in their right mind objects to making gun laws tighter. President Trump didn't put a gun in the hands of a mentally challenged shooter. The problem in this country is that tightening certain laws will in all probability lead to gun control that removes guns from everybody but those that need them for bad purposes. Moving on, your love of Socialism is disturbing to say the least. To each his own, but history has shown that Socialism doesn't work in the long run. As far as the media is concerned, you don't live here and you do not have the supreme displeasure of being lied to on a daily basis. Please refrain from telling me what I do or don't do. I do monitor the media. Did I feel the necessity to name them all, no I did not! It is obvious that we will never agree, but that is what makes the world go round....

If you actually read the definition of socialism being a socialist means subjecting yourself to a political and economic theory of social organization that advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole (in other words the government).

      synonyms: leftism, welfarism

(in Marxist theory) a transitional social state between the overthrow of capitalism and the realization of communism.

That's what socialism means. And this is what it gets you especially in Canada:

Thank You for the prompt reply. I appreciate it, as I appreciate the conversation, even though, we are not going to agree on much. At least though, I would like to clear-up some misunderstandings.

By playing with guns, I meant toy guns. Guns are not toys, they should not be made as toys and should not be played with, for many reasons I would like not to get into now (I can if You wish).

"The problem with taking guns away from law abiding citizens" - This is one of the biggest misunderstanding relating to the guns issue. Only some very unrealistic people would say: "take the guns away from citizens". That is not going to happen. It is unreasonable, unrealistic and plain-out dumb in my opinion.

I live in Canada and here we love to hunt, we love to go to the range and target shoot; we own guns, we shoot them, etc. Yet, we have sensible gun laws. I can't take my gun go out on the street and sell it to some person who's asking to buy a gun. That is not sensible. That is not safe. So, like when You sell a car, You have to do paperwork - that's how gun sales should be too and when You go to a gun show, You can't just sell your gun without background checks and proper paper-work.

Also, your Dear Leader allows people who are mentally unstable to own guns. That would never happen here, in Canada. Why? Because people with mental disabilities sometimes go off the rails. Then, people can die. This is not a joke. Owning a gun is serious business. I have no idea why people down South think as long as You have a heart-beat You can own a gun (I exaggerated but You do see my point, right?).

"I don't generalize, I state facts." - You do generalise because: "The media is just an extension of the Democratic Party" is a generalising statement. In your examples You only listed three left-leaning news organisations. You can try watching RT (Russia Today), or Al-jazeera, or Vice News and You will hear other stories, as well as other opinions. Try the BBC, they often have great reports as well, although they have a fairly strong bias too. You don't "monitor all the media." - it is not humanly possible, haha!! So stop generalising and saying wild things like this. It's laughable. Even if You said "most of the media" it would be fine but saying "the media is", or "I monitor all the media" is not correct. You cannot say things like that without being called-out. Or, You really are telling me that You watch all the new-stations and read all the newspapers from around the world? No, You don't. So start with RT, Al-Jazeera, Vice News, France24, BBC and then, we'll have another discussion if You wish.

"The Dems are very extreme these days." - This is another misunderstanding. You people here in North America (I was born and raised in Europe) have no idea what being a leftist means. The "Dems" are a joke. A sad, pathetic attempt at being leftists on the political spectrum. They really are not. They are centrists moving to the right but as I said above, people here in North America do not know what being leftists means.

Being a socialist, or on the left means having strong Unions, in every sector of the economy. Being a socialist means paid vacation for workers for 4-6 weeks yearly. Being a socialist means having paid universal healthcare (including dental, prescriptions, etc.). Being a socialist means being involved in politics and putting yourself on the line. I can go on here but I'm just trying to let You know that what You think of the "left" is really a centre. When Socialists will lead in politics You will see many transformations. Take a look at countries like Finland, Sweden, Holland, etc. That's a little of what we're aiming for. Not this centrist garbage.

      Dear Mr. Happy

First of all, plying with guns is not commonplace. I have no idea what you are talking about. The problem with taking guns away from law abiding citizens, is that the bad guys will always be armed, leaving the rest defenseless. As to the current atmosphere in this country, I feel it started in earnest with the Obama administration. Given his leanings and his background, he accomplished his goals. He set our collective teeth on edge and started a great deal of trouble. The left has taken up his mantra, and have added nothing to the discussion about anything important. I monitor all the media. I know bias when I hear it, and I am hearing it big time from stations such as ABC, NBC, MSNBC, etc. I don't generalize, I state facts. As for the left remaining passive, that is the understatement of all time. The marches, the protests, the safe spaces, the cop haters are all aided and abetted by those on the left. The Dems are very extreme these days. They are certainly not the Dems of yore. The same is true of the media. They are biased and not above distorting the truth to further their philosophy.

"Those on the right might say relax, it's only a toy." - Haha, I just thought as I was reading this: what if your child was playing with a dildo? Would You say: relax, it's just a toy? Some things are appropriate, some things are not. Some things teach some things, while other things teach other things. So, yes we want to be careful what we teach our children. Guns are not to play with.

"mostly everyone is ready for a fight" - Sure, one can say I am ready for a fight but it's not that simple. We have come to a point, when we can not just sit passive anymore. We cannot allow massacres to happen on school grounds, we have to stop Imperialist America from invading countries, we have to stop racists from marching down the streets chanting "Blood and Soil" and so on.

So, You see it's not that I'm dying for a fight but certain things that used to happen for decades upon decades, like men grabbing women by "the pussy", as your Dear Leader admitted to, cannot be allowed to happen anymore. Some of us will do all we can to implement changes.

"The media is just an extension of the Democratic Party" - This statement falls under the category of generalisations. You should not do that. It does not help conversations, it is not truth and so on .... frustrating to say the least when You are trying to pose as truth, meanwhile You put-out generalisations.

"POP and I watch all the stations." - Mind, elaborating here? I am just curious and would love to know what "all the stations" means. Thank You.

"We have lost the willingness to compromise." - We do not compromise with racists, with Imperialists, with woman abusers and so on. You have to draw the line somewhere, right?

Thank You for your article. We have many things which need to be talked about. All the best!

      POP:

I am blessed because my friends are conservative so we can "debate" any political subject. I enjoy this, and I am able to see other points of view even if we are all conservative. My family from Connecticut, however, is ultra liberal and we don't discuss politics. Whenever I talk to them, I get the jabs about President Trump; they never believe all he has done, and won't answer when I ask them if their paycheck is greater than it has been.

I found out a few years ago that my daughter and her family, including a 23 year old at the time were conservative! WooHoo! Someone else I can talk to.

I am off to the bar to have a discussion about, well, let's see, how about Nancy Pelosi and how much we love what she is saying. She can single handedly put the Democrats out of business.... I'll drink to that...

It is sad when family and friend relationships become infected with hostility just because of a difference of opinion. Then again, politics and religion discussions always bring out the worst in people if their is a difference of opinion. Today it seems worse than ever. I am blessed that my family and I can talk about politics with no hostility. Of course it's easier when you mostly agree. But even those on the other side of the fence, or somewhere in between, we've just never had any hostile exchanges. Friendships, however, get challenging. I have more liberal friends than conservative (I'm conservative). Usually it's discussion about a certain topic - abortion, immigration issues, etc. I have learned not to talk about it because it's pretty stupid to let those things get in the way. I love my liberal friends. I strongly disagree with them, but I choose not to argue about it. People have the right to disagree strongly, but if things heat up over it, we have a problem with our attitude and what defines love and friendship. I am grieved to my very core how hate and division is the state of our nation. People need to be adults and focus on the problems and how to be a part of the solution. Walking across the aisle can be considered political blaspheme. Our country is dictated by hatred and the only thing that matters is being right at all costs. I wish we were still a nation under God. He is the answer to transform people's hearts. I will take those banana pancakes now (:

I agree with everything you wrote here BP, not just the last paragraph. Although liberals think Trump is worse than Hiliary Clinton though they may dislike her, at least Trump, the worst liar to ever be elected to an office according to liberals, at least he articulated campaign promises that got him elected and that he is seriously carrying out and only having been in office a little over a year. How many campaign promises have you heard from candidates in the past that were blatant lies? (still waiting for the oceans to go down?)

As far as divisions between relatives, nothing there has changed since the civil war, and it won't when you are producing dumbed down indoctrinated generations (our education system and the media) of snowflakes while the greatest generation is dying off.

I do believe in miracles. What is occurring right now is proof positive that humanity is too corruptible to rule ourselves. We are susceptible to Satan's temptations as were the original people in Eden. When, and only when the only true soveriegn, All Mighty God establishes his kingdom, we will surrender to His rule and live in Paradise.
