10 Best Picks for President of the United States of America in 2020

Updated on February 21, 2019

Now that the current President of the United States of America, Donald J Trump has settled into his appointment as President, the world is beginning to speculate about who would be the best potential candidates to run against Trump in the year of 2020. After Donald Trump's shocking victory over Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, there is obviously a need for a stronger candidate to run against President Trump. Preferably a candidate that has no controversy such as emails surrounding them. Millions around the world have started to place their bets on who they think could unseat Trump in 2020. Here are some of the top choices to run against Trump in 2020:

1. Senator Elizabeth Warren

Sen. Elizabeth Warren is probably the top pick for the Democrats at this point. She was formerly a professor of law even attending Harvard Law School, former Assistant to the President and also a Special Adviser to the Secretary of the Treasury for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau under the presidency of Barack Obama and became the first female senator in 2012 from Massachusetts. She was considered as a strong potential candidate for President in 2016 and was considering to run for the presidency after the support from many of her followers. However, she did not decide to run and instead endorsed a fellow Democratic candidate, Hillary Clinton for President. Her recent announcement that she will join the Senate Armed Services Committee has many people believing that a run in 2020 is imminent.

2. Senator Bernie Sanders

Senator Bernie Sanders was one of the top picks for President in 2016 as he had a very a strong presidential candidate run last year ultimately falling to a fellow Democratic candidate, Hillary Clinton. Also, according to a lot of surveys, Bernie is the most popular politician in the United States of America. He is the longest serving independent United States congressional history. His campaign against Hillary Clinton in 2016 actually raised more money in individual contributions than any other in history. It was a big shock to many when he lost to Hillary Clinton in 2016, in which many people made claims that it was a conspiracy that she won. The only thing hindering Bernie from running for president is his age as he is currently seventy-five years old and in 2020 he will be seventy-nine years old.

3. Senator Cory Booker

Senator Cory Booker is an American Politician and is also the junior United States Senator from New Jersey. He recently made waves when he would join the Senate Foreign Relations Committee when the new Congress is started. Many people believe that his decision to join the Senate Foreign Relations Committee was to add more juice to his resume for a potential presidential run. He is one of two African-Americans in the Senate currently and is also one of the most media-savvy members in the upper chamber of the Senate. He had drama with a fellow Democratic member and former President of The United States of America, Barack Obama when he criticized an Obama Campaign ad in 2012 against Mitt Romney's business record.

4. Former First Lady Michelle Obama

Many people have become so close to former first lady of the United States of America, Michelle Obama. She has a strong connection to many fans with her loving and nice personality and with how much she has done in her run as First Lady. She has become more comfortable in public spotlight and is known for her heartfelt, passionate speeches. However, Michelle Obama has insisted that she will not run for president due to her responsibility of taking care of her two daughters, Malia and Sasha. Considering the fact that Malia and Sasha will be 22 and 19 years old respectively by the year of 2020, many persons are hoping that she may reconsider her choice to run for President.

5. Former Vice President Joe Biden

Another top pick for President of The United States of America is none other than former Vice President Joe Biden. He was Vice President Of The United States for two terms from 2009 to 2017 with former President Barack Obama. He also served as the United States Senator from Delaware from 1973 until he became Vice President in 2009. He ran for President unsuccessfully in 1988 and 2008 but dropped out due to a lack of support. Now Biden has much more support behind him, many people would like to see Biden run in 2020. He was actually considering to run in 2016 but due to the loss of his son Beau, he then went to state that he had no intention to run. Similar to Bernie Sanders, Biden's age is a problem as he would be 77 years old by the time election day rolls around in 2020. However, many people are hoping that he steps up to the throne to contend against Trump in 2020.

6. Senator Hillary Clinton

Yes, you read that right another top pick to run against current President Donald Trump is none other than the person that lost to Trump in the last election, Hillary Clinton. Her campaign was full of controversy after emails had been leaked and a lot of rumours surrounding her victory over Bernie Sanders were spreading around. Hillary lost to Barack Obama previously in 2008 and now has lost to Trump in 2016. Hillary obviously has the resume to be a presidential candidate in 2020. However, her recent loss and drama would definitely hinder her chances running against Donald Trump once again. She did win the popular vote in the election, however, was not so lucky with the electoral college vote. Her victory with the popular vote has fans raging to see her run again in 2020 but with all the drama surrounding her at the moment, fans may have to rage a bit harder to get her in the seat to run again.

7. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is an American politician who has served as the junior United States Senator from New York since the year of 2009. She also has been in the United States House of Representatives representing New York from the years of 2007 to 2009. An interesting fact about Kirsten is that she was the one who replaced Senator Hillary Clinton in her position as Senator from New York. In 2010, in a special election, she won the right to be the permanent Senator from New York with sixty-three percent and won a re-election in 2012 with seventy-two percent, which was the highest margin for any candidate in New York ever. Her similarities with Hillary Clinton have many wondering if she will once again replace Hillary Clinton and run for the presidency in 2020. One of the great things she has done as Senator is focusing mainly on the prevention of Sexual Assault in the United States military. Kirsten has not publicly made her intention to run in 2020 but who knows what could happen between now and 2020.

8. Senator Amy Klobuchar

Senator Amy Klobuchar is an American politician and is the senior United States Senator from the state of Minnesota. She is also the first woman to be elected as the United States Senator from Minnesota. She also served as a county attorney for Hennepin County, Minnesota and worked with former Vice President Walter Mondale. Her work in Minnesota with labour and progressivism is admired by many and could give her a strong following if she does decide to run for president. However, as of now, she does not have as strong as a following as she would probably want when running for president. But there is still lots of time between now and 2020 for her to build her campaign to go against her Democratic Party colleagues.

9. An Odd Pick, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson

Yes, believe it or not, one of the choices for presidents according to many survey sites is none other than former WWE Superstar and Hollywood Movie Star, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Many fans have been trying to force the Brahma Bull to run for president in 2020. Dwayne has actually talked about potentially running in 2020 but has stated that he does not think that he will be running for President anytime soon. The Rock would be a popular choice among many people to run for President but due to his lack of political experience, it is highly unlikely that he would get too far.

10. Another Odd Pick, Oprah Winfrey

Oprah Winfrey, probably one of the most well-known celebrity household names is another celebrity that is listed on survey sites. With Trump's successful run to become President and his past of being a celebrity, many people are looking for other celebrity choices of who they think should be president. Oprah has been very outspoken about her feelings about President Trump even stating that she could not breathe after Trump won the election. It is very unlikely that she could get far along with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson but it would be very interesting to see a personality like her step up to run for president.

Who would you like to see go against Donald Trump in 2020?

I pick Hillary cause that would he too easy, really any of these candidates would be too easy for Republicans to defeat. Weak choices for weak party with weak agenda.
