@ralphlopez is an advocate of "impact journalism." His 2015 article in WhoWhatWhy.org, "Youth Jailed at Age 16 Without Trial" on the saga of Kalief Browder resulted in a change in policy at Riker's Island jail, by which juvenile suspects would no longer be held solely for inability to make bail. In 2011, Ralph's viral article "Welcome to Boston, Mr. Rumsfeld. You Are Under Arrest," resulted in a massive demonstration at former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld's Boston book tour, and the cancellation of the rest of his tour. Ralph's latest book is "Peace Moon Over Afghanistan," a photojournal and report on Ralph's trip to Afghanistan.
“Journalists are moralists. They’re primarily in the business to make a better world, to improve society through revelations of its sins and glories.” - David Laventhol, former Publisher, Los Angeles Times, Yale 1957.
